Product Tracking

Technology options to safeguard assets

Product Tracking is a critical component of modern supply chain management and logistics, encompassing various methodologies and technologies used to monitor the movement and status of products from manufacturing through to delivery to the end consumer. This process ensures visibility, security, and efficiency throughout the entire lifecycle of a product, providing real-time data and insights that are essential for operational excellence.

Product Tracking refers to the systematic process of recording and monitoring the progress and location of products as they move through different stages of the supply chain. It involves capturing data at various checkpoints, from the production floor to warehouses, during transportation, and finally at retail locations or directly to customers. This information is then used to manage inventory, optimise logistics, ensure quality control, and enhance customer satisfaction.

The overall benefits are:-

  • Reduce the number of assets by up to 15%, as stagnant assets can be identified quickly.
  • Increase utilisation by up to 20%, as empty assets not in use can be collected quicker.
  • Find and eliminate leakage / loss points to reduce this loss area by up to 90%.
  • Full End to End tracking of assets across the outbound and inbound journeys.

GPS – this tracking uses a full cellular network to provide live location tracking.

Wi-Fi – identifies an item’s location using 3 or more available Wi-Fi networks.

Bluetooth –  tracks the location when it is in proximity to an installed beacon, then connects to a gateway to upload data.

Cellular – tracking updates the item location when a child device comes in to contact with a parent device (Beacons).

Android – uses the location of the android device used to scan the item to track it.

RFID / Barcodes / QR Codes – assets are scanned on location with scanners.
