Product Spotlight: The Securabox

The Securabox, unique to Exporta, was originally designed by our Specials Team to meet a customer frustration.

Our client who is a global engineering provider to the offshore energy industry had a repeating issue with tools and supplies for their site engineers. They were finding that the only completely reliable method was for maintenance and emergency site visits was for the engineers to visit one of their facilities, collect the spares and whatever specialist tools they needed and then head for the site.

The previous methods in varying degrees of unreliability included the kit being in the wrong place at the wrong time, pilferage en-route, and spoiling due to inadequate weather protection. Ever had a tense phone call from a frustrated engineer who is on site to do his job, and doesn`t have the kit (and you don`t know where it actually is)?

You wouldn`t need to be an adept logician to spot the waste of time and money here; without the unnecessary impact on customer satisfaction the environment.

The brief to Exporta was clear – we need a robust crate that can be secured, moved by forklifts, placed on racking and is reasonably waterproof.

Not to bore you with you with details, but Exporta trialled some concepts for prototyping with the customer. And hence Securabox was born.

The layman would be excused in thinking we added various bits of ironmongery to a rigid pallet box and lid.

It`s a bit more than that. Fixing to plastic for the long-term isn`t easy. Anyway, more about the result.

Securabox is used by many different organisation types, and is a tough lockable hinged lid crate which has been loaded with a wide variety of items, hurled around warehouses, production sites, on trucks, ships, rail & air to sites on & offshore.

And it works. The engineers arrive & all they need is there waiting for them. Hackneyed expression, but `problem solved`.

And the items and equipment that need to go back are simply transported back to base.

However, over extensive use in the field we identified an issue with the lockable hasp getting bent. Not a show stopper, but annoying to have to straighten to function again.

So we have upgraded to a lockable spring toggle hasp for Securabox Plus. Its more robust, lower profile and made from high quality stainless steel.

What was Win-Win is now Win-Win Plus.
