Bio Pallet Box

How could bread waste be turned into something functional and improve environmental concerns?

The result is BioPlastic.  Recycled plastics do have their short-comings in that the molecular chain is shortened (which reduces the physical strength), plus the material is difficult to achieve suitability for use with food products. The key advantage of Bioplastics is their lower carbon emissions compared to petroleum-based products. For this revolutionary idea, 30% of the original plastic material is replaced with starch-based food waste. We have a full blog coming on this where you can find out more.

Kinross Half Marathon

Exporta were delighted to once again be supporting the Loch Leven half-marathon in Kinross. The event, which starts next to Exporta’s northern distribution centre, has a hugely positive impact on the local community every year helping to provide funds for various projects such as the installation of defibrillators at crucial points in the town, support for the local first responder team and the installation of an access lift at the local rugby club.

Case Study

The Customer

Johnson Matthey is a global leader in sustainable technology solutions, specializing in advanced metals chemistry and catalysis. The company focuses on enabling the transition to net zero by providing solutions in clean air, hydrogen technologies, catalyst technologies, and precious metals services. Founded in 1817, Johnson Matthey has a long history of tackling global challenges, including reducing harmful emissions and decarbonizing industries.

The Challenge

Johnson Matthey’s Royston site is primarily focused on hydrogen fuel cell technology (rather than traditional refining), and are aiming to be the “market leader in performance components for fuel cells and electrolysers”.

When working in such a demanding and technological operation it is key that tools and equipment are on hand to ensure that the processes keep running, and Johnson Matthey utilise bespoke Work Stations to achieve this. However, it was identified that could be better stored in containers placed on the Work Stations.

The Solution

Johnson Matthey identified that the Exporta Premium Small Parts Bins would neatly fit on the Work Stations, house the necessary tools and equipment and be ready for use where & whenever needed.

They ordered a selection of sizes online, which were delivered on the usual next-day delivery service.

Quarter 1

Welcome to the first Exporta Quarterly Update of 2025.

Trends and Developments

Coming into 2025, we have continued to see businesses looking to utilise returnable and reusable products to operate their systems as single use products continue to be phased out. This is something that Exporta’s range of products is ideal for.

In addition to RTP becoming a key focus, we’re also seeing an increase in demand for product tracking solutions. In this quarter, we have expanded our offering in this area as there are so many different solutions that suit different scenarios.

warehouse-racking

At our distribution centre, we have improved our own warehouse operations. In March we installed brand new racking, to help improve efficiency and increase our storage capacity. For customers this means we can continue to keep our core ranges in stock and keep delivering orders next day.

A big well done to our warehouse team for keeping everything moving while this work was being done!
